In our lastest short film, project lead, Herb Nahapiet, speaks about how the four partners involved in bringing the Fitzherbert Community Hub project to completion plan to deliver on their mission to reduce food poverty and isolation.
Here are some of the ways that the new hub aims to have a positive social and environmental impact on the community
- A commercial training kitchen providing 25,000 hot meals a year and offering a cookery training programme for people who have been out of education and employment
- Food for asylum seekers and refugees provided by Voices in Exile
- A parish food bank
- Greater accessibility to the facilities
- A beautiful outdoor space for people to meet
- Easy access to Brighton Table Tennis club offering exercise and social connection
- The provision of work space with Wifi and USB connections to help tackle digital isolation in the community
- New audio-visual equipment to provide information and the opportunity for visitors to enjoy music and live acts and
- Acoustics and technology to make the space more inclusive for those with additional listening needs
